We Are The Southern Crescent NWOA
NATIONAL HISTORY OF NWOA
As the chapter continues to grow, the impact becomes greater within the community, but setbacks befall the chapter as well as members leave, new ones come. Southern Crescent remains steadfast within her community as a source of strength and unity.
In 2019, candidates were inducted: Shakira Bryant, Karen Givens, Brenda Moore, Yaasmen Shahid (not pictured) and Addie Taylor.
Their contributions to Southern Crescent was brief but mighty. The major focus for the chapter at this time was building community relationships and building a rapport with the schools and other collaborative efforts.
In June 2020, Southern Crescent added 3 more ladies to the roll: Tammy Harris-Roach, Sharon Daniels Mosley, and Eboni Noland.
By now, the chapter has begun to take on a different form. Several members had disengaged and the roll only consisted of five Achievers and now the three new Achievers. The work had to be done.
Achiever Sharon Daniels Mosley suggested caring for those who are caregivers to their elderly parents because so often the caregiver is forgotten. Achiever Gwen Smith was the recipient along with one of the chapter’s volunteers JaCinta Thornton. It was a grand Merry 2020 Christmas after having to deal with Covid 19.
National Women Of Achievement encourages youth through our scholarship program and recognize outstanding community leaders through our annual “Profiles of Prominence.”
The Organization’s Motto is “Excellence and Promotion of Achievement: The Key to Success.”

HISTORY of SOUTHERN CRESCENT
In efforts to grow the National Women of Achievement organization and its service area, originators, Achiever April Jackson-Banks and Gwendolyn Smith who were members of Midtown-Atlanta Chapter, sought to identify new members on the south side of Atlanta to better service that specific area. The Southern Crescent Chapter was chartered on January 12, 2018, to service the South Fulton, Clayton County, Henry County and all areas south of the city of Atlanta. The chapter was comprised of seven Midtown Atlanta Chapter Achievers and three new Achievers.
The charter members are Achiever Patricia Gusta, President, Achiever Aries Little, 1st Vice President, Achiever Tamara N. Christion-Mims, 2nd Vice President, Achiever Gwendolyn Smith, Treasurer, Achiever Sherley Beaufils, Achiever Pamela Collins, Achiever Scharbrenia Lockhart (not pictured), Achiever Sharmaine Scott (not pictured), Achiever Rachel Senior, and Achiever Andromea Thornton.
The first President of Southern Crescent Chapter was Patricia Gusta who, only, remained for four months and Tamara Christion-Mims volunteered to take on the role as President, becoming the chapter’s second President.
